The high-mast lighting smart upgrade project, a collaboration between IOTCOMM and Xiamen Haitang Terminal, has been successfully completed and officially put into operation. The project has established a smart lighting control system to ensure 24-hour operational safety at the terminal while significantly reducing energy consumption.

Xiamen Haitian terminal is a crucial container hub in the west coast economic zone of the Taiwan Strait. To ensure nighttime safety, nearly a hundred high-mast lights remain on year-round, resulting in significant energy waste.

The operation of Xiamen Haitian terminal is continuous and highly dynamic; the existing timed or manual control methods can no longer meet the needs of flexible scheduling.
Xiamen Haitian terminal needs a smart lighting system that can dynamically adapt to the rhythm of port operations to support its sustainable development and operational safety.
With its self-developed Hotu IoT cloud platform as the core, IOTCOMM deeply integrates with the port's ITOS operating system, upgrading the lighting system from a single energy-consuming unit into a "smart sensory network" that is linked to the production process in real time.

The lighting control platform can not only achieve automatic lighting control based on sunlight patterns, but also automatically trigger corresponding lighting strategies by parsing the work instructions issued by ITOS in real time, without the need for manual intervention.
When the work order is issued, the lights in the target area are instantly turned on at 100%. The lights in areas without work are turned off at one-third brightness. After the work is completed, the lights enter a 30-minute countdown. After the countdown ends, one-third of the lights are automatically turned off, balancing safety margins and energy efficiency.

Through dynamic zoned lighting, the system achieves an overall energy saving rate of over 35%, significantly reducing electricity costs and ensuring that every kilowatt-hour of electricity serves the actual production needs.
To ensure that each lighting circuit accurately corresponds to the actual site conditions, we equipped each high-mast light in the dock yard with a complete intelligent control unit, including a concentroller and a meter module. In the office and parking area, we added 4G terminal controllers and Illumination Collector to achieve accurate illuminance acquisition.

In addition to enabling remote and precise dimming, these smart hardware devices can automatically collect operating data such as current and voltage, monitor electrical hazards such as leakage and overload in real time, make real-time judgments on the operating status, and promptly and proactively report fault information to achieve proactive safety warnings.
The hardware uses a 4G Cat.1 private network card for intranet communication, which greatly ensures the information security of dock operations.

Furthermore, the Xiamen Haitian terminal is located on the coast and is constantly exposed to high salt spray, high humidity, strong winds, and intense summer sun, placing stringent demands on the corrosion resistance and operational reliability of its lighting equipment. All IOTCOMM hardware utilizes highly protective, corrosion-resistant materials and a sealed design to ensure long-term stable operation in harsh environments.
In a port operation system where safety is paramount, the Hotu platform integrates a real-view map of the terminal, providing a comprehensive overview of the status and lighting trajectory of all light poles. It can monitor abnormal light outages, unauthorized lighting, or insufficient illuminance in areas in real time, achieving global-level light environment safety monitoring.

The control system connects to external smart meters to accurately measure lighting electricity consumption, which is conducive to the unification of the electricity consumption side and the billing side. At the same time, the platform automatically generates multi-dimensional energy consumption analysis reports, which provide a solid data foundation for the port's carbon footprint accounting and refined management.

The Xiamen Haitian terminal Smart Lighting Project is not merely an upgrade to the lighting system, but a deep integration of "Industrial Internet + Green Energy" in a port setting. While ensuring production efficiency, it achieves comprehensive improvements in energy conservation, emission reduction, and operational management, creating an evolving and scalable digital operational foundation for the port.
In the future, we hope to extend this mature solution to more ports, logistics parks, and large industrial sites, driving the industry towards a green, intelligent, and sustainable future through technological innovation.
